Tayla Cwalinski (Jackson, N.J.), Senior, P, Johnson & Wales University
Outstanding performance in the circle and at the plate. Pitching outstanding games, she went 3-1 for the week dishing up 35ks and allowing only 7 runs in 4 games finishing the week with a 1.52 ERA. She was perfect fielding. At the plate she had 11 hits with 20 AB, scored 7 runs to go along with 4 RBI, earning a .550 average with a .650 slugging %.
Co-Pitchers of the Week
Nicole Handzel (Palmer, Mass.), Freshman, Pitcher, Mount Ida College
Handzel posted an ERA of 1.12 over 31.1 innings this week, winning three games, including throwing a no-hitter over Albertus Magnus. With her eighth strikeout to end that game, Handzel also set the Mount Ida single-season record for strikeouts, with 109. She went on to strike out eleven batters twice more this past week, in wins over Rivier and Lasell, and collected 12 strikeouts in a 2-1, eight inning loss to Saint Joseph (CT). She finishes her rookie season with 144 strikeouts and a 2.69 earned run average.
Kilcoyne threw four complete games, including pitching a PERFECT game on Saturday afternoon in a win over Anna Maria. She went 2-2 on the week with a 1.46 ERA, leading the Saints to their first playoff appearance since the 2004 season. The rookie struck out 31 batters and gave up just 14 hits in 24 innings pitched this week.
Danica Gleason (South Portland, Maine), Freshman, INF, Saint Joseph's College (ME)
Gleason played a large role in helping the Monks win five of their six conference contests last week, hitting .500 (9-18) with four runs, a double, two triples and five RBI overall.
