Ferreira Reaches 200 Career Hit Plateau

Senior Jess Ferreira (Cambridge, MA) collected her 200th career hit on Sunday afternoon in game one of a Great Northeast Athletic Conference double header against Norwich University. Ferreria went 3-4 in the game, including a home run to lead the Rams to a 7-4 victory over the Cadets. Ferreira reached the career mark with an RBI single in the fifth inning, her third hit of the contest, and 32nd hit of the 2009 season.

Coming into the weekend, Ferreira has been one of the GNAC's top offensive forces, as she is listed in the top three in several categories; 3rd in batting average (.528), 2nd in slugging percentage (1.083), 2nd in on base percentage (.609), 1st in RBI (18), and 2nd in home runs (4).

Prior to this season, Ferreira was named a Pre-Season All-American by DIII-The Newsletter and has been twice named GNAC Player of the Year (2007 & 2008). In 2008, Ferreira compiled 34 extra base hits on the season, was ranked in the top 10 in six categories nationally in Division III, including first in slugging percentage (1.073)

During her freshman campaign in 2006, Ferreira earned 2nd Team All-American Honors by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), while also being named the GNAC Rookie of the Year.

A Criminology & Law major, with a minor in Education, Ferreira attended Cambridge Rindge & Latin High School in her native Cambridge, MA.
