Lions Clinch First Place In 2009 GNAC Softball Championship Tournament

The 2008-2009 GNAC Softball Playoff pairings are now available. The Emerson College Lions earned the first seed with a 21-3 GNAC record and 29-7 record overall.

The Lions clinched first place in the conference by going 6-0 in the final weekend of conference play beating Lasell, Albertus Magnus and Saint Joseph (CT) in doubleheaders.

The Saint Joseph’s College (Maine) Monks (18-6; 26-10) secured a second place finish with a 6-0 closing weekend as well, beating Mount Ida, Lasell and Albertus Magnus in doubleheaders. 

The first round of playoffs will take place on Wednesday, April 22nd with #5 Norwich hosting #8 Simmons at 4:00PM and Thursday, April 23rd with #6 Lasell hosting #7 Rivier at 4:30PM. The quarterfinals will take place on Friday, April 24th at #1 Emerson and #2 Saint Joseph’s (Maine). Semifinals will take place on Saturday, April 25th and the championship will be on Sunday, April 26th. Emerson will host both the semifinals and finals.
