Four GNAC Teams Ranked in First Edition of Men's Volleyball East Regional Rankings

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WINTHROP, Mass. – Among the seven teams ranked in the first edition of the NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball East Regional Rankings on Thursday, four of the programs hail from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC).

Wentworth Institute of Technology was ranked third behind Kean and Springfield, while fellow GNAC foes Lasell College and Johnson & Wales University were ranked fourth and fifth, respecitvely. Defending GNAC Tournament champion Rivier University was listed in a tie for sixth with Baruch.

Wentworth, which is currently ranked No. 14 in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) national poll, is currently 18-5 overall and 7-2 in GNAC play. The Leopards' resume includes a February 14 road victory over nationally ranked Springfield.

Lasell (19-7, 7-3 GNAC) has won 12 of its last 16 overall, including seven straight at one point, while Johnson & Wales (17-7, 5-3 GNAC) has won four of five entering its trimatch this weekend.

Rivier sits at 13-9 overall, but is atop the GNAC standings with a stellar 8-1 record. Its lone conference setback came back on March 3 at Lasell, although the Raiders helped avenge the loss with a 3-1 victory over Lasell this past weekend.

Founded in 1995, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) is an NCAA Division III association made up of 12 member institutions and over 3,000 student-athletes across the New England region. Each year, the GNAC sponsors and administers 17 championships, while balancing academic integrity, athletic opportunities and community involvement.
