Rivier College Captures GNAC Regular-Season Title, Set to Host GNAC Men’s Volleyball Championship Tournament

Rivier captured the regular season GNAC title and will host the 2009 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship at the Muldoon Health and Fitness Center Gym on Saturday, March 28, 2009.

The Raiders, the reigning 2008 GNAC tournament and regular-season champions, enter the tournament with a perfect 12-0 conference record and an outstanding 28-1 overall record.

Joining Rivier in the championship tournament on Saturday will be the top four teams from conference play. Traveling to Rivier will be #2 Emmanuel (9-3; 17-11), #3 Lasell (8-3; 19-9), and #4 Johnson & Wales (6-6; 8-13).

All matches will be played on Saturday, March 28th starting with #1 Rivier vs. #4 Johnson & Wales at 12:00PM. At the completion of the first match, #2 Emmanuel will face #3 Lasell. The winner of these two contests will face off at 4:00PM for the championship.

The top two teams from the weekend will advance to the NECVA championship next weekend at MIT.
