Ramapo, Suffolk Top 2015 GNAC Men’s Tennis Preseason Poll

Both Ramapo, Suffolk receive 16 points

WINTHROP, Mass. – Ramapo College and Suffolk University have been selected atop their respective divisions in the 2015 GNAC Men's Tennis Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the conference office on Thursday morning.

Ramapo was chosen first in the GNAC South Standings with five first-place votes and 16 points overall, while Suffolk finished atop the GNAC North Standings side of the poll with four first-place nods and 16 points.

The two teams matched up last year in the GNAC Championship match, with Ramapo prevailing, 5-1, in New Jersey to claim the conference title.

Ramapo finished 11-4 overall a year ago, while Suffolk compiled a 9-3 record.

Johnson & Wales University (11-2) finished second in the GNAC North Standings with 12 points and a lone first-place tally. Norwich (8-2) finished third with eight points and one first-place vote as well.

Rutgers University-Newark (4-6) finished second behind Ramapo in the GNAC South Standings with 11 points, followed by Albertus Magnus College (6-7), which garnered nine points and one first-place vote.

The GNAC Tournament semifinals are scheduled for Wednesday, April 22 at the top seed from each division, while it has already been predetermined that the North Division highest remaining seed will host the GNAC title match on Saturday, April 25.

Weekly reporting for GNAC men's tennis will begin on Monday, March 23.

Founded in 1995, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) is an NCAA Division III association made up of 12 member institutions and over 3,000 student-athletes across the New England region. Each year, the GNAC sponsors and administers 17 championships, while balancing academic integrity, athletic opportunities and community involvement.
