
Suffolk University Men's Tennis Tabbed Preseason Favorite
Suffolk University has been chosen as the men’s tennis
preseason favorite of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference in a
vote conducted by the league’s coaches. The Rams, who
finished 3-1 in conference play and 8-5 overall last season,
received three first place votes and a total of 22 points in the
GNAC men’s tennis preseason poll.
Defending GNAC tournament champion Johnson & Wales, which
finished with a 4-0 conference record and 11-1 overall, has been
chosen second with 15 votes and one first place vote.
Completing the preseason poll in projected order of finish in the
regular season standings are Emerson (14), Norwich (10), and
Albertus Magnus (9).
The top four teams in the regular season standings will qualify for
the conference playoffs. In the semifinal round, to be played on
the Thursday, April 23, 2009, the #1 seed will host the #4 seed;
and the #2 will host the #3 seed. The surviving teams will play for
the championship on Saturday, April 25, 2009.
