Mustangs Men’s Soccer a Hit at YMCA Healthy Kids Day

NEEDHAM, Mass. – Members of the Mount Ida College men's soccer team took time off from their spring practice schedule at the end of April to help some younger members of the community run through some drills.

The Mustangs were volunteers at the YMCA's Annual Healthy Kid's Day, an annual event run nationally at the same time at YMCA's across the country. They played games and helped to work on basic soccer skills with the over 600 attendees at the event.

"Parents were thrilled with the job that the guys did with the kids," said Kyle Lawson, Sports Coordinator for the Charles River YMCA in Needham, where the local branch of the event was held this year.

The goal of YMCA's Annual Healthy Kid's Day is to help kids build on their potential by providing fun activities. The local event included family photos, face painting, fitness tests, relay races, music from Magic 106.7 and healthy snacks and smoothies provided by Whole Foods Market.
