PERRY, N.Y. Senior midfielder Chris Curtis (Ashland, Mass.) has been named a United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-American Honorable Mention selection, it was announced by the USILA over championship weekend.

The honor marks the first All-American selection for an Emmanuel College men's lacrosse player in the program's five-year history and also is the first time that a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's lacrosse player has earned All-American honors since the GNAC began sponsoring Men's Lacrosse in 2011.  Curtis, who recently competed in the USILA/Nike Division III North-South Senior All-Star Game on Tuesday, May 24 at Cabrini College, was one of only 38 midfielders in Division III named as an All-American for the 2016 campaign.

Curtis enjoyed a stellar senior campaign en route to being named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year for the second straight season. The Ashland, Mass. native set a new Emmanuel single-season record this year for goals (48) and points (66) to help the Saints capture the program's third-consecutive GNAC Championship. Curtis tallied at least two points in 18 contests this season including a three point outing against two-time defending national champion Tufts University in the opening round of the 2016 NCAA tournament. Along with his GNAC Player of the Year honors, Curtis was also named a First Team GNAC selection for the third straight season and earned GNAC Tournament Most Valuable Player honors.

Over his career, Curtis recorded 195 total points on 138 goals and 57 assists and graduates as the Emmanuel all-time leader in all three categories. He also added an unofficial assist in the USILA/Nike Division III North-South Senior All-Star game.

Curtis will wrap up his collegiate career this Friday when he competes in the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) East-West Senior All-Star Game at Western New England University's Golden Bear Stadium at 7:00 PM. Also joining him will be fellow senior Pat Heffernan (Pembroke, Mass.) who was also selected to the All-Star squad.

Emmanuel wrapped the 2016 season with an overall record of 11-9 including an 8-0 mark in the GNAC. The Saints claimed their third GNAC crown and NCAA tournament berth before falling in the first round of the tournament to Tufts University.
