PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Mount Ida college men's lacrosse head coach Andrew Fink recently returned to his roots with a speaking engagement at his old elementary school. 

Fink returned to The Hamilton school at Wheeler in Providence, R.I. and had the chance to sit down with current parents and alumni. Fink spoke about his own personal experience at Hamilton, where he was among the first graduating class. 

Fink, now in his 11th year at the helm of the Mount Ida men's lacrosse program, told parents how the Hamilton School helped him cope with dyslexia and played a role in his future successes. That includes eight conference championships, including six straight North Atlantic Conference (NAC) titles in his first six years as the head coach of the Mustangs. He has amassed 130 career wins and has one of the top winning percentages (.670) among Mount Ida coaches. 

The Hamilton School at Wheeler is a unique place, a "school-within-a-school" contained within The Wheeler School in Providence, RI., serving children from Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts communities.  Founded in 1988 to serve bright elementary-grade children with language-based learning differences, the school celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2013. Many Hamilton students have been diagnosed with dyslexia (reading disorder), attention-deficit disorder (ADHD), executive function deficits, and/or specific language impairments.
