GNAC Men's Basketball Tournament Tips Off with Tuesday's Quarterfinals

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Albertus falls in GNAC finale, seeks
seventh conference title in eight years

WINTHROP, Mass. – Despite falling to Johnson & Wales University (RI) on Saturday afternoon in its conference regular-season finale, Albertus Magnus College has finished 15-1 in the league standings to secure the top seed in next week's GNAC Men's Basketball Tournament.

The Falcons, who had won 10 in a row before Saturday's 93-77 road loss, will host eighth-seeded Anna Maria College on Tuesday night (7:00 PM) in the GNAC Tournament Quarterfinals. Albertus defeated JWU earlier this month, earning an 82-73 win on February 6, and earned the GNAC's automatic NCAA Tournament berth last year with a 101-83 championship victory over Lasell College.

JWU lays claim to the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament with a 13-3 mark in GNAC play, as the Wildcats prepare for seventh-seeded Norwich University on Tuesday at 7:00 PM having won three straight and nine of 10 overall.

Also in quarterfinal action, third-seeded Saint Joseph's College of Maine draws sixth-seeded Suffolk University Tuesday at 7:30 PM, while fourth-seeded Lasell hosts fifth-seeded Regis (Mass.) at 7:00 PM.

The GNAC Tournament Semifinals are slated for on Thursday, February 22, with the GNAC Championship set for Saturday, February 24 at the highest remaining seed. There is no reseeding throughout the tournament. Be sure to catch all of the tournament action live on thegnac.tv or watch on one of our four custom digital streaming apps (broadcasts are produced by home institutions).
