Guitian Named All-American Honorable Mention

Lasell College men’s basketball senior captain, Jose Guitian, has been named a D3Hoops.com All-American Honorable Mention. The 6’10” forward from Miami, Florida has earned an abundance of accolades this season, which now has culminated with the incredible honor of being recognized nationally, and becoming the first student-athlete at Lasell College to earn the All-American recognition.

Guitians accomplishments over his career speak for themselves.  He has become the Lasers all time leading scorer and rebounder this season, topping both the 1,500 point and 1,000 rebound marks.  He finished the 2008-2009 season 2nd nationally in rebounds per game, 7th in points per game, and 18th in blocked shots per game. Guitian also led the GNAC in each of those respective categories and was named GNAC Player of the Year this season.

Guitian was selected to the D3hoops Team of the Week three times this season, the ECAC Player of the Week four times, and the GNAC Player of the week nine times, including six consecutive weeks. To top all that off, the senior was selected as one of ten finalists for the Jostens Trophy, a national award honoring the most outstanding Division III basketball players of the year based on athletics, academics, and community service.

Guitian was also recently selected to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-Region second team and to the D3Hoops.com All-Region first team, from which they make their All-American selections.
