Monks Secure First Place In 2009 GNAC Baseball Tournament

The 2009 GNAC Baseball Playoff pairings are now available. The Saint Joseph’s College Monks earned the first seed with a 13-1 GNAC record and 25-10 record overall.

The Monks clinched first place in the conference with two wins over Suffolk on Saturday. The two teams entered the game tied for first place in the conference at 11-1 each, but with the win the Monks secured first, while the Rams earned the second place in the tournament with a 11-3 GNAC record and 24-7 overall record.

Six teams make the playoffs, with the first round of games starting on Wednesday, April 22nd. #3 Albertus Magnus will host #6 Lasell starting at 6:30PM at Quigley Stadium and #4 Johnson & Wales will host #5 Emerson starting at 6:15PM at Pierce Field.

The quarterfinals will take place at #1 St. Joe’s of Maine, who will host the winner of #4 JWU vs. #5 Emerson, and #2 Suffolk, who will host the winner of #3 Albertus vs. #6 Lasell, on Friday, April 24th at times to be determined.

St. Joe’s of Maine will host the semifinals and finals on Saturday, April 25th and Sunday, April 26th. Game times on Saturday will be 10:00AM, 2:00PM, and 5:30PM. Game times on Sunday will be 12:00PM and 3:30PM (if necessary).
