BOSTON – For the first time in the 10 years of the event, Suffolk University Athletics, Athletic Director Cary McConnell and the Suffolk University Title XI Office participated in White Ribbon Day.

Held annually during the first week of March, White Ribbon Day (WRD) is a statewide campaign that asks men to pledge to be part of the solution in ending violence against women and all gender-based violence as part of the initiative by Jane Doe Inc. to change societal attitudes and beliefs that perpetuate violence against women and all genders.

Suffolk's first step in its involvement was a new initiative in this year called "Raise a Flag Awareness." The Rams were one of 100 municipalities and schools to take part, anchoring a flag outside the Michael and Larry Smith Fitness Center in the Riddgeway Building.

Throughout the day on Wednesday, Suffolk's male student-athletes, coaches and administrative staff wore white ribbons pledging their commitment to the movement with student-athletes from each of the Rams' seven male varsity teams working an information display at Somerset. Additionally, select administrators, coaches and members across Ram Nation shared their voices as to why they joined WRD through the Department's social media official handle, @GoSuffolkRams, on FacebookInstagram and Twitter using the initiative's official hashtags, #WRD and #ReimagineManhood.
