WINTHROP, Mass. – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference is set to hold its biennial Professional Development Seminar (PDS) this summer on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Anna Maria College in Paxton, Mass. Anna Maria also hosted the 2014 GNAC PDS.

GNAC Commissioner Joe Walsh is pleased to announce that Janet P. Judge will speak to the conference’s administrators and coaches. Judge, who is founder and president of Sports Law Associates LLC in Boston, works with college presidents and athletic administrators to develop and implement risk reduction strategies and to respond proactively and effectively to concerns when they arise.

“It was a wonderful to hear Ms. Judge speak at the NCAA Convention this past January in San Antonio,” said Walsh. “I believe it will be a tremendous opportunity for coaches and administrators from our 12 member institutions to hear her speak this summer.”

Nationally recognized in the area of Title IX, Judge is a highly regarded public speaker and trainer, having worked with student-athletes and staff at more than 500 schools across the nation. She was honored with the National Association of Women Athletic Administrators (NACWAA) Administrator of the Year for Athletic Organizations in 2011.

Judge is the author of the NCAA’s best practices for Title IX coordinators and is the co-author of the NCAA Manual on Gender Equity. She has also written numerous publications and articles on collegiate compliance.

A graduate of Harvard/Radcliffe College, Judge was an eight-time varsity letter winner in three sports before serving as a basketball and soccer coach at Simmons College, an original GNAC member institution. She also taught Sports Law at the University of Maine School of Law and is an online instructor for the National Associate of College and University Attorney (NACUA) courses on Social Media Issues in Higher Education and Title IX Coordinator Responsibilities.

Founded in 1995, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) is an NCAA Division III association made up of 12 member institutions and over 3,000 student-athletes across the New England region. Each year, the GNAC sponsors and administers 17 championships, while balancing academic integrity, athletic opportunities and community involvement.
