NADIIIAA President Joe Walsh Announces New Organizational Leadership Positions

WINTHROP, Mass. – Keri Alexander Luchowski and Pam Samuelson have been elected to leadership positions in the National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators.  The elections were announced by new NADIIIAA President Joe Walsh of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference during the organization's Awards Reception following the conclusion of the 2016 NCAA Convention in San Antonio, Texas.

Alexander Luchowski will serve as vice president and president-elect of the Association, and Samuelson will join the NADIIIAA Executive Committee as an at-large member.  

Outgoing president, Myra Sims, of Emory and Henry College was also recognized for her service to the Association with the NADIIIAA Distinguished Service Award having served as vice president from 2012-13 and as president from 2014-15.  She will continue to serve on the NADIIIAA Executive Committee as immediate past president for the next two years.  Also recognized was Erin McDermott of the University of Chicago for her service on the Executive Committee for the past two years.

The elections took place by electronic voting of the NADIIIAA membership during the two weeks prior to the NCAA Convention.  Over 240 NADIIIAA members cast ballots.

Walsh became the GNAC’s first full-time commissioner in 2005. Prior to that, he was assistant men’s basketball coach at Emmanuel College, head women’s basketball coach and athletic director at Emerson College, and assistant women’s basketball coach at Harvard University after starting his coaching career at Saint Columbkilles High School in Brighton, Massachusetts.

Walsh has spent over 30 years involved in athletics at the community level within the City of Boston as a coach and an administrator. He currently serves as the President of The National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators (NADIIAA) In the past, he has served as the NCAA DIII Women’s Basketball National Committee and New England Chair, the NCAA DIII Membership Committee and on the NCAA DIII Men’s Basketball Regional Advisory Committee.

He was inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame as a member of the class of 2013. He is past president of both the Allston and Brighton Boards of Trade, Allston Brighton Kiwanis and the co-chair of the Brian J. Honan Charitable Foundation. He has served on the ECAC Award of Valor Committee, the ECAC Women’s Basketball Selection Committee and the board of directors at the West End House Boy’s & Girl’s Club. He was the Director of Community Relations at Boston University for 15 years.
