NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Albertus Magnus College Athletic Department is pleased to announce the addition of four light towers surrounding Celentano Field. The most recent renovation to the complex began earlier in the academic year and this Saturday’s men’s and women’s soccer contests against Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe Johnson & Wales University during the College’s annual Fall Fest will be the second set of games played under the lights at home this fall for the Falcons.

“The addition of state-of-the-art LED lights is an exciting step for Albertus Magnus College and is in line with the college’s Strategic Plan which highlights the importance of a healthy and growing athletic program,” Albertus Magnus Director of Athletics Jim Abromaitis said. “Having night games will add to the college experience for the entire college community. The new lights will add flexibility to what we do and will give our coaches a significant tool for the very competitive recruitment of new student–athletes.”

Celentano Field now has four 70-foot galvanized steel poles featuring over 200 LED factory-aimed and assembled luminaries. With the addition, Albertus Magnus  is home to the only turf field with all LED aimed lighting in New England. The cutting edge, leading technology reduces spill light by 50% and cuts operating costs in half.

Other features of the lights include a reflector system, a visor system and side shift beam control. The aiming system focuses light solely on the field of play, while more than 2,000 photometric patterns provide optimal energy efficiency. With Musco’s new Green Generation Lighting, the Falcons now boast state-of-the-art technology on campus for student-athletes.

The men’s and women’s soccer teams, men’s and women’s lacrosse teams and softball team will be playing contests under the lights. Other teams will be able to practice on the field and campus-wide events will be held under the lights as well.

The 19th annual Fall Fest is set for Saturday, October 24, at 5:00 p.m. Earlier in the day, there will be an alumni baseball game at noon taking place at East Shore Field No. 1 in East Haven, Connecticut. Beginning at five o’clock on campus, there will be an Alumni Hospitality Tent, live music and plenty of food options. For more information on the event click here.
