BOSTON, Mass. – Following a national search, Emmanuel College is pleased to announce the appointment of Alexis Mastronardi as the Director of Athletics and Recreation, announced Thursday afternoon by Dr. Patricia Rissmeyer, Vice President of Student Affairs. Mastronardi becomes the College’s fourth Athletic Director, replacing Pam Roecker, who has served in this capacity since 2003 and will assume the position on July 6, 2015.

Mastronardi joined the Emmanuel community in 2001 as Assistant Director of Athletics and Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach and was promoted to the position of Associate Director in 2004.  A highly regarded colleague who has been involved in all aspects of Emmanuel College life during her 14 years at the College, she has played a critical role in the development and implementation of the Athletic Department’s strategic goals and objectives.

In addition to providing complete oversight for sports information – including the development of the athletic department official website goECsaints.com – Mastronardi has been instrumental in the continued success and growth of our comprehensive 16-sport varsity athletic program.  She is respected by those throughout our community, her colleagues in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference and by her peers for her commitment, professionalism, strong work ethic and pride in the College.

"Emmanuel has been such a special place for me over the past 14 years and I am honored to be selected as the College's next Director of Athletics and Recreation,” said Mastronardi. “I am excited to continue to work with such a dedicated team and within our incredible community and look forward to continuing the great tradition of Saints Athletics."

Mastronardi is a member of the College's Division of Student Affairs. She received one of Emmanuel's Campus Life Awards in 2005 and was selected the Great Northeast Athletic Conference's Sports Information Director of the Year in 2008. Mastronardi is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators (NACWAA). She graduated from NACWAA's Institute for Administrative Advancement in 2005.  She currently serves as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference's administrative sport chair for Women's Lacrosse.

A graduate of Skidmore College, where she played varsity basketball and softball and was honored as a former Skidmore Student-Athlete of the Year, Mastronardi received a master's degree in Criminal Justice from Boston University in 1998 and a master's degree in Education in School Administration from Emmanuel in 2004.
