Trio of GNAC Student-Athletes Receive ECAC Weekly Honors

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WINTHROP, Mass. – Three GNAC student-athletes received weekly accolades from the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) this week, as Emmanuel College goalkeeper Garrett Charette was named ECAC Division III New England Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, Simmons College middle blocker Emmee Ashby was named ECAC Division III New England Women's Volleyball Co-Rookie of the Week, and Simmons forward Samantha Rondeau received ECAC Division III New England Field Hockey Rookie of the Week honors.

Charette's most recent recognition comes after the senior captain led the Saints to consecutive GNAC shutout victories last week, posting a 1-0 win over Lasell and a 3-0 win at Suffolk. Charette made three saves in the Saints' victory over Lasell before making eight stops in the Saints' win at Suffolk on Saturday night, setting a new program record for single-season shutouts.

Ashby averaged 4.96 points on 3.69 kills, 0.77 aces and 0.92 blocks per set last week, while owning a stellar .353 hitting percentage in 13 sets over three matches. She also got down for 1.15 digs per set as the Sharks went 3-0.

Rondeau tallied seven points on a pair of goals and three assists and notched at least three points in both contests last week. The first-year had a goal and two assists in the Sharks' 6-0 victory over Bay Path College on October 15 and capped the week with a marker and a helper to help Simmons to a 5-0 win over Rivier on Oct. 18.
