
Monks Picked First in GNAC Women's Soccer Coaches' Preseason Poll
One point separated the top two teams in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Preseason Women's Soccer Coaches Poll with the Monks of Saint Joseph's being tabbed as the favorite to win the GNAC in a vote by the conference coaches.
The Monks, which tallied 81 points and three first-place votes, are coming off a season in which they finished second in the GNAC with a 9-2-1 record and 13-5-1 record overall.
Emmanuel earned the No. 2 spot in the coaches' poll after advancing to the 2008 GNAC championship game, falling to Norwich, 2-1.
Rounding out the coaches' poll, Saint Joseph (Conn.) was tabbed
as the No. 3 selection. Norwich and Emerson round out the top five,
while Emerson edged Johnson and Wales for the sixth spot. Lasell
and Simmons rounded out the poll in the No. 7 and No. 8 spots,
respectively.
Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own
teams.
