Wole Oke Named GNAC Director of Conference Communications

Wole Oke has been named the Director of Conference Communications for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, as announced by GNAC Commissioner Joe Walsh.

Commissioner Walsh stated, "I am thrilled that Wole has accepted the position as Director of Conference Communications. The GNAC is such a wonderfully diverse and unique conference that Wole's experience at GNAC member Simmons College will be a tremendous asset as he takes on the task of serving as the GNAC's spokesperson and telling our story to the world. The conference is indeed fortunate to have someone with the professionalism, intelligence and thoughtfulness that Wole will bring to the position."

Oke will serve as the primary media relations contact for the conference’s 15 sports.  In addition, Oke will coordinate the GNAC correspondents program, the conference’s sports information internship program, and oversee content for the conference website.

Oke is joining the GNAC Conference after serving as the Athletics Administration Intern/Sports Information Assistant at Simmons College the past two years. At Simmons, Oke assisted with the media relations efforts for nine sports. His duties included maintaining the department's website, writing and designing various publications, compiling team statistics, and assisting with game day operations.

A native of Amherst, Mass., Oke graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Sports Studies from the United States Sports Academy and plans on pursuing a master ’s degree in Sports Leadership from Northeastern University.
