NEW LONDON, N.H. – January 17, 2019 – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team defeated Regis, 87-67, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest Thursday evening.

Colby-Sawyer was led by senior Jourdain Bell's (Manchester, N.H.) 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting. He moved up three spots in career scoring to rank 10th all-time with 1339 points. Junior Patrick Coffey (Westford, Mass.) inched closer to a milestone with 17 points tonight. He sits at 988 career points. Junior Dana Bean (Franklin, N.H.) finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high six blocks, which is tied for third most in a game in program history. He moved into sixth in career blocks with 86. First-year Nick Backer (Tamarac, Fla.) was the fourth Charger to reach double figures. He contributed 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

Regis received 13 points and eight rebounds off the bench from senior Shawn Wedderburn (Bronx, N.Y.). Sophomore Juvens Dalger (Oakland Park, Fla.) and senior Jordan Seldon (Dorchester, Mass.) added 11 points apiece. Junior guard Josh Germain (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) posted a game best six assists.

In a fast-paced first half, Bell scored five of the game's first 10 points to give the home team an early 7-3 lead. Regis tied the game at 7-7 on a bucket by Marc Trinidad (Bronx, N.Y.). Four minutes into the frame, Regis took a 10-9 lead, but then Colby-Sawyer took control holding a lead for the next nine minutes. Regis clawed back to knot the game at 26-26 with 7:00 minutes to play. Over the next few minutes, the game would see-saw and stay within a possession lead on either side. With 2:05 left, Colby-Sawyer created separation by finishing the half on an 8-0 run to take a 44-35 lead. The Chargers shot 54.3% from the floor and had 16 fast-break points.

Regis cut the deficit to five a couple of times early in the second, but a pair of Backer free throws at 11:50 put Colby-Sawyer in front by double digits, a lead the home team would not relinquish.

The Chargers finished the game with a 23-7 edge in fast-break points, while Regis turned 16 offensive rebounds into 18 second chance points.
