PAXTON, Mass. - October 15, 2019 - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team scored a pair of goals in a three minute span early in the second half to earn a 2-1 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) road win at Anna Maria Tuesday afternoon. 

Colby-Sawyer improves to 4-7-3 overall and 4-3 in the GNAC. The Chargers play at Albertus Magnus on Saturday at 4 p.m. Anna Maria drops to 4-12 overall and 1-6 in conference action. The AMCATS travel to Lasell on Saturday for a noon start. 

After nearly 40 scoreless minutes, the home team broke through with a goal from Hezekiah Adeyeye. Steven Makynen set up the play to give Anna Maria a 1-0 lead heading into the halftime break.The AMCATS tilted the pitch in their direction with a 15-7 advantage in shots. 

Colby-Sawyer turned the tide in the second half, outshooting Anna Maria 14-6. The Chargers found some offensive rhythm 10 minutes into the second frame and scored twice in a three minute span to take a 2-1 lead. First-year Miguel Contreras (Cucuta, Colombia) passed the ball to the front of the net inside the six-yard box where junior Ahamad Raji (Lagos, Nigeria) was able to skirt the ball around the AMCATS keeper to record his third goal of the season. 

Less than three minutes later, Contreras put the Chargers in front with his first collegiate goal off a cross from sophomore Mason Galbato (North Easton, Mass.).  

Lucas Boetsch (Rockport, Maine) tied a season-high with 10 saves to earn the victory for Colby-Sawyer. Jeffre Donahue made six stops for Anna Maria. 

Each team took 21 shots, while Anna Maria had an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks.
