Baseball Topped by Mount St. Joseph

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - March 13, 2019 - The Colby-Sawyer baseball fell to Mount St. Joseph, 14-3, in a single game at the Lake Myrtle Baseball Complex. 

Mount St. Joseph improves to 2-5. The Chargers drop to 0-6 and will play a doubleheader against Becker tomorrow in Kissimmee. 

Colby-Sawyer took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on a Ryan Cummiskey sac fly that drove in Noah Yeingst

MSJ responded in the bottom half of the second with three runs. Brandon Shelton knocked in a pair with a home run to left and Colin Crowe added a sac fly. 

The Chargers tied the score in their next at-bat. Charlie Danaher doubled to score Brendan Barrett and was followed by a Danny McCrystal single that brought in Liam Datres de la Blotier.

The Lions retook the lead in the bottom of the third on a sac fly and never looked back. The team added a run in the fourth, seven in the fifth and two in the sixth. 

Shelton finished with three hits, two runs and two RBI to lead the Lions. Crowe, Trey Siciliano and Roman Rothwell knocked in two runs apiece. 

Barrett and McCrystal had two hits to lead Colby-Sawyer. 

Zack Bell earned the win for the Lions with seven strikeouts in five innings. Owen Cottle suffered the loss with two innings of relief work. He gave up one earned run.
