NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 4, 2018 – The Colby-Sawyer College women's volleyball team fell to Babson College, 3-0, in a non-league match Thursday evening. The Beavers won by scores of 25-15, 25-11 and 25-19.

Colby-Sawyer had its six-match win streak snapped to fall to 12-8. The Chargers will resume Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday at Simmons with a tri-match against the Sharks and Albertus Magnus. Babson improves to 12-5 and will play a tri-match at Endicott on Saturday against the Gulls and Plymouth State.

The first set was back and forth for the first few points, but Babson then used an efficient offensive attack to pull away for the 25-15 victory. The Beavers hit .387 in the frame with 16 kills led by Allie Puccio's (New Hartford, N.Y.) four. First-year Maddie Bromley (Truckee, Calif.) had four of the Chargers' six kills on .571 hitting.

The Beavers scored the first three points of the second set and never looked back. Leading 20-11, Babson rattled off the next five points, all on kills with three from first-year Juliette Pouille (Riviera Beach, Fla.), to win the set 25-11.

Colby-Sawyer stayed close in the third set and trailed by only three at 9-6 after a kill from first-year Katarina Hornung (Stratton, Colo.). Babson then used 10-2 run to force a Colby-Sawyer timeout. The Beavers then led 24-13, but the Chargers did not go quietly as they scored six-straight points including four aces by junior Morgan Flynn (Reading, Mass.). Babson won the next point and took the set 25-19 and the match 3-0.
