Saints Tie Single-Season Shutout Mark in Stalemate vs. Regis
BOSTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel College women’s soccer team tied the single-season record for shutouts following a 0-0 draw against Regis College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action Wednesday evening at Clemente Field.

THE LEAD – The Emmanuel College women's soccer team tied the single-season record for shutouts following a 0-0 draw against Regis College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action Wednesday evening at Clemente Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Saints had several chances early in the match, earning a pair of corner kicks in the first seven minutes of play while attempting three shots before the 15-minute marker.
- The Pride got its first shot off in the 25th minute on an attempt by Emma Nunnemacher (West Boylston, Mass.) that EC first year keeper Patricia Kirejczyk (Ansonia, Conn.) cleaned up to keep the match square.
- Emmanuel's best chance of the stanza came with just over 10 minutes to play in the opening half when first year midfielder Eva Simmons (Charlestown, R.I.) sent a rebounded shot towards the far post from close range only to be denied by first year goalie Daniela Mazo (Bridgeport, Conn.) with a diving save to her left.
- The Saints outshot the Pride by a 7-2 margin in the opening half.
- In the second half, neither side had a good look on frame until the 74th minute when EC first year midfielder Liz McCormick (Cumberland, R.I.) had a chance inside the box that Mazo made a near-side post diving save to deny.
- The last scoring chance of the match came with under five minutes to play on an Emmanuel corner that McCormick sent to the back post but the ball scooted through the charging pack to eliminate any scoring threat.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The shutout was the 11th of the year for the Saints, tying the single-season program mark from 2015.
- The Saints currently share the conference lead with JWU in shutouts with 11 and rank tied for seventh among NCAA Division III programs.
- EC first year keeper Sandra Griffith (Roland, Ark.) took over in net to relieve Kirejczyk at halftime, making two stops to get credit for the tie to move to 2-2-2 on the year.
- Mazo made six stops to move to 2-1-1 overall in her first collegiate shutout.
- Emmanuel is now 4-2-1 all-time vs. Regis and 3-0-1 in games played in Boston.
- The two squads move into the final week of regular-season play sharing an 8-2-1 conference record, good for a tie for the third spot in the conference standings.
