NEW LONDON, N.H. – January 19, 2019 – Albertus Magnus junior Shyla Osmond (New Having, Conn.) scored 41 points to lead the Falcons to a 78-75 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) road win at Colby-Sawyer on Saturday afternoon.
Albertus Magnus improves to 16-2 overall and 4-1 in the GNAC. The Falcons will host Lasell on Thursday. Colby-Sawyer drops to 11-6 overall and 3-2 in conference action. The Chargers will travel to Bates on Monday for a 7 p.m. contest.
Osmond went 15-of-28 from the floor, 4-of-9 from beyond the arc and made all seven of her free throws. She added seven rebounds, seven assists and five steals. Junior Rah Rah Thompson (Bridgeport, Conn.) notched a double-double of 14 points and 15 rebounds. Senior Kristin Cunning (Hoboken, N.J.) added 17 points.

Lexie Hamilton (Sunapee, N.H.) led the Chargers with 24 points, nine rebounds, five assists and five steals. Junior
Kristen Donaghey (Franklin, Mass.) poured in a career-high 19 points on 6-of-8 shooting to go along with a team best 11 rebounds. Junior
Tianna Sugars (Oxford, Maine) added 15 points and six rebounds. First-year
Lydia Nattress (Winooski, Vt.) contributed eight points.
The Chargers were in front 19-16 after 10 minutes of action. Osmond scored seven points for the Falcons, while Hamilton and Nattress had six apiece for Colby-Sawyer. Albertus was 0-for-8 from beyond the arc, but made just one less field goal than the Chargers to keep the score within a possession.
In the second quarter, Colby-Sawyer did damage from the free throw line making 9-of-12 attempts. The Chargers outscored the visitors 26-20 in the frame to lead 45-36 at the half. Osmond and Hamilton went back and forth to each finish with 10 points in the quarter.
Albertus started to find the range from deep, in the third quarter, and made 5-of-8 to win the stanza 19-10 and tie the game at 55-55 after three.
The fourth quarter see-sawed for the first four minutes as each team held a 3-point lead. Trailing 67-66 with 3:06 on the clock, Sugars made a pair of free throws to put Colby-Sawyer back on top by one. That's when Osmond took over scoring all of the Falcons' final 11 points of the game to secure the 78-75 road win for Albertus Magnus.
Colby-Sawyer won the rebounding battled 45-38. Albertus averages the third most boards per game in the country at 51.5 rpg. The Falcons had a 21-4 margin in fast break points.
