Jordan Teixeira Notches First Collegiate Goal in 4-1 Loss to Anna Maria

NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 5, 2015 – The Anna Maria College field hockey team scored three times in the second half as they spoiled Colby-Sawyer's home opener, 4-1 on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

The AMCATS improve to 2-1 and will play their home opener on Tuesday against Wheaton. The Chargers drop to 0-2 and will host Elms tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.

Colby-Sawyer was able to get more scoring chances than Anna Maria in the first half, outshooting the AMCATS 9-6, but was unable to get one by the keeper.

The visitors broke through in the 23rd minute when junior Kaitlyn Moran (Leicester, Mass.) set up senior teammate Kylie Dalbec (Portland, Maine) who found the back of the cage.

Dalbec opened the scoring early in the second half when she deposited a feed from junior Lauren Beauregard (Hubbardston, Mass.) for her third goal of the season.

Moran pushed the AMCAT lead to 3-0 in the 41st minute with her second goal of the season on an assist from Dalbec.

Colby-Sawyer snapped the drought in the 58th minute when freshman Jordan Teixeira (Exeter, N.H.) notched her first collegiate goal.

Anna Maria added another goal with four minutes to play. Beauregard connected with teammate Nicole Denver (Springfield, Mass.) who beat the keeper to the right side.

AMCATS keeper Mary Kate Breen (Londonderry, N.H.) made eight saves to earn the win, while Jodi Dumayne (Claremont, N.H.) suffered the loss with three saves.

The Chargers also held an edge in corners, 9-4.
