Chargers Roll to 111-76 Win at Rivier

NASHUA, N.H. - November 28, 2018 - The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team rolled to a 111-76 victory at Rivier University in a non-league game on Wednesday evening at Muldoon Gymnasium.

The Chargers improve to 3-1 and will travel to Colby College on Saturday for a 4 p.m. tip with the Mules. Rivier falls to 1-5 and will play a non-league game at home against Emmanuel on Saturday at 1 p.m. Colby-Sawyer will host Rivier on Thursday, January 31 at 5:30 p.m. for a game that will count in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) standings. 

Junior Dana Bean (Franklin, N.H.) led 11 Colby-Sawyer scorers with 25 points on 10-of-14 shooting. He added a game-high 14 rebounds. Senior Jourdain Bell (Manchester, N.H.) scored 23 points to move into 17th on the all-time scoring list with 1145, passing Dave Rosso's '10 total of 1124. Junior Patrick Coffey (Westford, Mass.) added 16 points, while sophomore Austin Boudreau (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) was the fourth Charger in double figures with 10 points. 

Rivier was led by Nate Hale. He was the lone Raider to reach double figures with 19 points. Tyler Bradanese contributed seven points and seven rebounds. Parick Meyers scored nine points in eight minutes of action. 

Colby-Sawyer scored the first seven points of the game and never looked back. The Chargers took a 15-3 lead after five straight points from Bell and held a double digit lead throughout the frame. The advantage ballooned to 27 with a minute left in the half when first-year Nick Backer (Tamarac, Fla.) connected on the team's seventh trey. The Chargers led 59-34 at the half behind 59% shooting from the floor and made 7-of-13 three-point attempts. 

The Chargers continued their efficient offense in the second half and outscored the Raiders 52-42 to win the game 111-76. 

For the game, Colby-Sawyer shot 52.9% (37-70) from the floor and 47.6% (10-21) from beyond the arc. Rivier made 14 two-point baskets and 10 three-point buckets in the game. Colby-Sawyer controlled the glass with a 50-28 margin in rebounding.
