Men's Golf: Cadets compete in 24-team Duke Nelson Invitational

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The Norwich University men's golf team saw action over the weekend, finishing 24th in the 38th Duke Nelson Invitational at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course over Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 10th-11th.

The Cadets were spearheaded by Tyler Orton (159, +17), who finished in a tie in 68th with players from institutions such as Amherst College, new York University, and Wesleyan University. Alex Lewis (171, +29) trailed Orton in the offensive output for Norwich, checking in in a three-way tie for 112th.

Rensselaer Polytechnic (590, +22) narrowly won the Invitational, taking the crown by a single stroke over both Middlebury College and Trinity College (591, +23), with Hamilton College (592, +24) just another stroke behind.

Norwich will be back on the green on Friday, Sept. 16, hosting the Tony Mariano Vermont Invitational in Randolph, Vt at the Montague Country Club. Set to get underway at 10:00 a.m., the field includes NVU-Johnson, Castleton, Keene State, New England College, and MCLA, in addition to the host Cadets.
