BOSTON, Mass. - March 30, 2019 - The Colby-Sawyer women lacrosse team won its fifth-straight game by defeating Simmons University, 18-5, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest on Saturday.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 6-2 overall and 5-2 in the GNAC. The Chargers will step out of conference action to travel to Fitchburg State on on Tuesday. Simmons, which was selected fifth in the GNAC preseason poll; one spot ahead of Colby-Sawyer, falls to 5-4 overall and 3-3 in the conference.

Sierra Schuster (Hopkinton, N.H.) led all players with six goals. Schuster moved into 10th all-time in career goals with 122. Sophomore
Sarah Morin (Pelham, N.H.) added five goals and an assist. Senior
Brittany Ireland (Amherst, N.H.) posted a game-high seven points on two goals and five assists. She added six draw controls. Sophomore
Briana Couture (South Hadley, Mass.) contributed three goals and an assist. Sophomore
Brady Stolz (Scarborough, Maine) notched her first collegiate goal, while sophomore
Talia Dinger (Penacook, N.H.) rounded out the Chargers scorers with a goal. First-year
Caroline Tompkins (Marblehead, Mass.) picked up a team-best four ground balls.
Five players accounted for the five Simmons goals. Molly Reinhold scored once, caused three turnovers, had five draw controls and collected six ground balls to lead the Sharks.

Kailyn Lapham finished with nine saves to earn the victory. Cat Cross made 10 saves in the loss for Simmons.
Reinhold scored the game's first goal to give Simmons a 1-0 lead, but Colby-Sawyer then rattled off seven goals, four by Schuster, to take a commanding lead and never look back. The Chargers led 10-2 at the half and outscored the Sharks 8-3 in the second to earn their first-ever win over Simmons in two meetings.
