NEW LONDON, N.H. – April 18, 2019 – The Colby-Sawyer baseball team dropped both ends of a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader to Albertus Magnus on a chilly Thursday afternoon. The Falcons won 3-2 and 9-7.

Albertus Magnus improves to 16-11 overall and 5-5 in the GNAC. The Falcons will host Lasell on Saturday for a conference doubleheader beginning at noon. Colby-Sawyer drops to 6-21 overall and 3-9 in conference play. The Chargers play a doubleheader at Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Friday at 1 p.m.

GAME ONE – Albertus Magnus 3, Colby-Sawyer 2

The Chargers plated a pair in the bottom of the first on a Charlie Danaher (Guilford, Conn.) RBI single and an RBI groundout from Danny McCrystal (Londonderry, N.H.).

Albertus Magnus tied the game in the next half inning with two runs. Senior Tyriq Harris (Waterbury, Conn.) knocked in a run with a sac fly. The team's second run came on a double steal.

The game-winning run would also come via a double steal in the top of the fourth.

Albertus Magnus pitcher Shawn McFeggan (Anaheim, Calif.) struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh to preserve the 3-2 victory.

McFeggan allowed two earned runs on four hits and finished with seven strikeouts in the complete game victory.

Colby-Sawyer senior Ryan Glendye (Litchfield, N.H.) went the distance and allowed two earned runs on three hits in the loss. Glendye now has 11 career complete games, which ranks t-8th all-time.

GAME TWO – Albertus Magnus 9, Colby-Sawyer 7

Colby-Sawyer struck first once again in the night cap. Junior AJ Cavossa (Foxborough, Mass.) blasted a triple to right field to score sophomore Alec Burns (Enosburg Falls, Vt.) to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead after two innings.

The Chargers added a pair in the third on a Brendan Barrett (Nashua, N.H.) infield single and a squeeze bunt from Danny McCrystal.

Albertus Magnus erupted for five runs in the fifth to take a 5-3 lead. At one point in the frame, the Falcons strung together four-straight hits. Brandon Clark (Cheshire, Conn.) and Matt Warren (Wolcott, Conn.) each had a two-run double in the inning.

Colby-Sawyer came back in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at 5-5. AJ Cavossa had an RBI single to center after Burns came around to score on an error.

The Falcons responded right away by scoring four times in the top of the seventh. Elijah Spataj (Cheshire, Conn.) knocked in two runs with a double to left center.

The Chargers were able to get two back in the bottom of the seventh, but Brandon Fowler (Lexington, S.C.) halted the rally and left the bases loaded to pick up his first save of the season.

Brendan Clark (North Haven, Conn.) earned the victory with two innings of relief work for the Falcons. He allowed two runs (both unearned) on two hits.

Mike Browne (New Fairfield, Conn.) had two hits and two runs, while Eduardo Pena (Hamden, Conn.) went 3-for-4 to lead Albertus Magnus.
