NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - March 9, 2019 - The Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team won its season and Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opener on Saturday at the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.), 19-1.
The Chargers are 1-0 overall and in the GNAC. The team travels to Saint Joseph's (Maine) on Wednesday. The Blue Jays drop to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in conference action.
Colby-Sawyer controlled the action throughout the day and finished with a 43-10 shot advantage.
Senior
Sierra Schuster (Hopkinton, N.H.) led the way with six goals and five draw controls. She eclipsed 100 career goals and now has 101. Senior
Brittany Ireland (Amherst, N.H.) scored four times and added a pair of assists. Sophomore
Jess Tattersall (Keene, N.H.) filled the stat sheet with three goals, an assist, four ground balls, two caused turnovers and two draw controls. First-year
Caroline Tompkins (Marblehead, Mass.) came away with her first collegiate goal.
Junior
Kailyn Lapham (Medway, Mass.) played the first half in net to earn the win with three saves. She moved into a tie for fifth with 12 career wins. First-year
Maddie Langdon (The Woodlands, Texas) made two saves and gave up one goal in the second half.
Taya Valdez notched the lone Blue Jays goal. Silvana Barcomb finished with 17 saves.
