Baseball Turns Away Saint Joseph’s (Me.), 6-2

STANDISH, Maine – The Endicott baseball team defeated Saint Joseph's (Me.), 6-2, in non-conference action on Tuesday night Mahaney Diamond.

WP (1-0): Nicholas Cannata (Marlborough, Conn.) – 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 5 K
LP (0-1): Jason Johnson (Thomaston, Conn.) – 4 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K
SV (2): Max Tarlin (Sharon, Mass.) – 4 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K

The Gulls took a 3-0 lead through the first four and a half innings of play and never looked behind the strong pitching of Cannata and Tarlin.

Kyle Grabowski (Westfield, Mass.), Nickolas Perkins (Nashua, N.H.), Caleb Shpur (East Canaan, Conn.), and Nicolas Notarangelo (Taunton, Mass.) were all credited with RBIs in the win.

Meanwhile, Joseph Millar (Lake Hopatcong, N.J.), Shpur, and Robbie Wladkowski (Norwood, Mass.) all registered multi-hit contests for the Gulls.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is 1-0 on the road this season.
  • The Monks have lost four in a row.
  • Tarlin has pitched more than one inning out of the pen three times this year.
