BOSTON, Mass. - October 6, 2018 - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team picked up a pair of Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victories on Saturday afternoon at Simmons University. The Chargers defeated the host Sharks 3-1 by scores of 16-25, 25-21, 28-26 and 25-19. The team then earned a 3-0 win over Albertus Magnus by scores of 25-13, 25-21 and 28-26.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 14-8 overall and 6-2 in the GNAC, good for third place in the standings. The Chargers will step out of conference on Thursday for a 7 p.m. road match at Salem State. Simmons is 6-10 overall and 2-3 in the conference, while Albertus Magnus is 8-8 overall and 1-5 in the GNAC.
COLBY-SAWYER 3, SIMMONS 1 - 16-25, 25-21, 28-26, 25-19
Courtney Murray and
Maddie Bromley paced the Chargers attack with 10 kills apiece. Bromley added a team best 19 digs and five aces.
Sam Mohammed and
Maddie Conroy finished with nine kills each.
Anna Allen registered 38 assists.
Morgan Flynn contributed 14 digs and three aces.
The Chargers registered one solo block and 16 blocks assists.
COLBY-SAWYER 3, ALBERTUS MAGNUS 0 - 25-13, 25-21, 28-26
Murray and Bromley were impressive once again to lead the team with 11 kills apiece. Murray hit .478, while Bromley hit .320 and added 13 digs and three aces. Conroy chipped in with another five kills. Flynn had a team best 10 digs.
Maeve Powell had five kills in 10 attempts.
The Chargers hit .260 as a team and held the Falcons to .019 hitting.
