NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 5, 2012 - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team scored two first half goals en route to a 2-0 victory over Norwich on Wednesday. The Chargers improve to 3-0, while Norwich drops to 1-2.

Sophomore Sarah Little (Scarborough, Maine) gave the home team a 1-0 advantage in the 16th minute when she ripped a shot from just outside of the 18 yard box. The ball sailed above a jumping Norwich goalkeeper and snuck in under the crossbar for her second goal of the season.

Six minutes later, junior Stephanie Huntley (Woodbury, Conn.) sent a free kick towards the front of the goal. The ball took one big bounce and hurdled a couple of players before sophomore Michelle Upham (Chelsea, Vt.) flicked the ball with her head into the back of the net. The goal was Upham's first of the season.

Colby-Sawyer goalie Shay Spencer (Natick, Mass.) recorded her second shutout of the season and made five saves. Norwich keeper Allison Hull (South Royalton, Vt.) kept the Cadets in the match by making several spectacular saves. She finished the contest with 11.

Colby-Sawyer outshot Norwich 22-7 and held a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.

The Chargers will host Mount Holyoke on Saturday at 12:30 pm, while Norwich plays at Rivier on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
