NEW LONDON, N.H. – March 27, 2019 – The Colby-Sawyer College women's lacrosse team received four goals from four players in the final 10:35 of the game to earn a 13-9 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory over Emmanuel Wednesday afternoon.

Today's game between the Chargers and Saints was the first-ever meeting.

Colby-Sawyer pushes its win streak to four-straight to improve to 5-2 overall and 4-2 in GNAC play. The Chargers travel to Simmons on Saturday for an 11 a.m. start. Emmanuel falls to 3-3 overall and 2-1 in the conference. The Saints will host the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) on Saturday at noon.

Sophomore Sarah Morin (Pelham, N.H.) and senior Brittany Ireland (Amherst, N.H.) each scored four times to lead Colby-Sawyer. Ireland added three assists to move into sole possession of fourth all-time with 49. Sophomore Madison Johansson (Stratham, N.H.) picked up four ground balls. Sophomore Briana Couture (South Hadley, Mass.) and junior Grace Vosburgh (Ludlow, Vt.) added two goals apiece, while sophomore Jess Tattersall (Keene, N.H.) rounded out the Colby-Sawyer goal-scorers with one.

Emmanuel was led by junior Kylie Rice's (Bethlehem, Conn.) three goals. Sophomore Aisling Butler (Westfield, Mass.) and first-year Jessica Borduas (Woodbury, Conn.) added two goals apiece. Sophomore Emily Saef (Moultonborough, N.H.) finished with a goal, an assist, and a game-high five draw controls. First-year Lincoln Hamblett (East Boothbay, Maine) picked up a team-best four ground balls.

Colby-Sawyer junior goalie Kailyn Lapham (Medway, Mass.) made three saves in each half for a total of six. Lapham earned her 15th career win to move into t-4th all-time with Brooke Morin '01. Emmanuel senior goalie Bethany Bonilla-Colon (Milton, Mass.) had seven saves in each half to finish with 14.

The game was evenly played throughout with neither team holding more than a two goal lead until the final 10 minutes.

After five scoreless minutes to begin the contest, Colby-Sawyer put two on the board in a span of 21 seconds. Emmanuel responded four minutes later with two tallies from Rice. The teams then traded the next five goals to make the score 5-4 in favor of Colby-Sawyer with 9:17 on the clock. The Saints then controlled possession with the next six minutes and scored three times to take a 7-5 lead. The home team battled back with goals by Morin and Ireland in the final 2:27 of the half to send the game into the break tied at 7-7.

The second half also began with a lengthy goal drought as each team held the ball, looking for a great scoring chance. Emmanuel broke the tie at 21:41 off the stick of Chandra Franca (Woburn, Mass.). Sixteen seconds later, Briana Couture knotted the game at 8-8. Colby-Sawyer's Grace Vosburgh then put the Chargers in front at 16:11 with her first goal of the game. Emily Saef of Emmanuel tied the game for the seventh time with a free position goal with 14:24 left. The Chargers then controlled the pace for the remainder of the contest and scored four times in the final 10:35 to secure the 13-9 victory.
