Patrick Coffey Reaches 1000 Career Points

NEW LONDON, N.H. – January 19, 2019 – Colby-Sawyer junior Patrick Coffey (Westford, Mass.) became the program's 21st player to reach 1000 career points as he led the Chargers with 25 points. Albertus Magnus came away with an 84-81 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory.

Albertus Magnus improves to 11-5 overall and 3-1 in the conference. The Falcons will play at Emmanuel next Saturday at 1 p.m. Colby-Sawyer dips to 9-8 overall and 3-2 in the conference. The Chargers will step out of conference action on Monday with a 7 p.m. game at Keene State.

Coffey eclipsed the milestone at 17:31 in the second half with a game-tying bucket. He shot 10-of-20 from the floor for the game. Senior Jourdain Bell (Manchester, N.H.) contributed 15 points and three steals to move into fourth in career thefts with 183. Junior Dana Bean (Franklin, N.H.) registered 16 points and seven boards. First-year Nick Backer (Tamarac, Fla.) was the fourth Chargers in double figures with 14 points.

Albertus Magnus was led by a 22-point effort off the bench from first-year Davon Warner (New Haven, Conn.). He went 6-of-13 from beyond the arc in 24 minutes. First-year Michael Richardson (Queens, N.Y.) finished with a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds, while first-year Andrew Rice (West Haven, Conn.) also posted a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds. Junior Jahmerikah Green-Younger (Norwalk, Conn.) chipped in 11 points.

The Chargers opened the game on a 9-0 run, holding the Falcons scoreless for three minutes. Colby-Sawyer's lead ballooned to 13-2 before the visitors began to chip away. A layup by Ryan Pittman (Stratford, Conn.) pulled the Falcons to within one, 22-21, with less than nine minutes to play in the first. Colby-Sawyer was able to keep the lead for the next several minutes, until a trey from Warner knotted the game at 35-35. The score flip-flopped for the last two minutes of the half and ended at 40-40.

Bell led all players in the first with 15 points, while Warner scored 14 for Albertus Magnus.

Green-Younger broke the tie to give the Falcons a 43-40 lead, seconds into the second. The game stayed within two possessions for the next 13 minutes. A Dana Bean jumper tied the game at 67-67 with 6:31 on the clock. On the ensuing possession, Richardson gave Albertus a bucket lead with a driving layup. The Falcons would not relinquish the advantage for the final 6:20 of the contest en route to the 84-81 victory.

Albertus Magnus scored 56 points off the bench and held a 47-34 advantage in rebounding.
