Colby-Sawyer Edges Emmanuel, 2-1, in Regular Season Finale
EAST BOSTON, Mass. - October 30, 2019 - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team earned a 2-1 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory over Emmanuel in Wednesday’s regular season finale.

Both teams are safely in the GNAC postseason picture, but will find out seedings and matchups later this evening.
Colby-Sawyer goes to 6-9-3 overall and 6-5 in conference play. The Chargers will compete in the postseason for the 10th straight season. Emmanuel ends the regular season at 8-8-1 overall and 5-5-1 in the GNAC.
Emmanuel was whistled for a foul with less than two minutes to play in the second half. From just outside the 18-yard box, Colby-Sawyer sophomore Tim Driscoll (Framingham, Mass.) sent a bending ball into the six-yard box where sophomore Mason Galbato (North Easton, Mass.) headed in the game-winner with 1:46 showing on the clock.
The Chargers took a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute when junior Ahamad Raji (Lagos, Nigeria) hit a laser into the right corner of the net from 22 yards out. The play was set up by junior Ethan Sweet (Cornish, N.H.) who was traveling near the baseline and passed the ball back to the top of the box.
Emmanuel found an equalizer just after the start of the second half. Five minutes into the frame, sophomore Dagemawi Beyna (Cambridge, Mass.) collected a thru ball from sophomore Erik Gustafson (Ipswich, Mass.) and beat the Colby-Sawyer keeper into the left corner of the net.
Colby-Sawyer senior Jarod Parkins (North Kingstown, R.I.) made several sprawling saves to keep the match tied and eventually preserve the victory. He finished with eight stops to earn his third win of the season. Emmanuel goalie Jonathan Ferrarini (Hanover, Mass.) made three saves.
