2015-16 Conference Office Internships

The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) seeks qualified applicants for two unique and exciting internships. These positions will provide the intern the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the management and operation of an NCAA DIII athletic conference. The internships are part time, unpaid, and will be headquartered in Winthrop, Mass.

Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree and a sincere desire to enter college athletics administration.

Although these are unpaid internships the non-monetary benefits include:

• Gaining meaningful experience by working with and learning from 200+ professionals at the 12 GNAC full members and 13 associate members, plus GNAC partners i.e. NCAA, ECAC, 42 other DIII conferences, officials, corporate, community.

• Task/project-oriented responsibilities (not hourly). Allows intern time to work another job or attend graduate school.

• Opportunity to attend NCAA, NACDA, NACWAA or CoSIDA convention paid for by the GNAC

AVAILABLE POSITIONS:

Athletics Communications Assistant (supervised by Asst. Commissioner for Media Relations) 

 - Assist in writing stories and managing content of GNAC website

 - Develop and distribute press releases

 - Input and archive conference data and statistics online

 - Become fluent in STATCREW

 - Create multimedia pieces for posting on the GNAC page

 - Help promote the GNAC through its various social media platforms

 - Assist with GNAC preseason polls and weekly awards programs

 - Work with Asst. Commissioner to solicit nominations for and promote awards such as the GNAC Woman of the Year and Sportsmanship awards

 - Help prepare GNAC Championship media materials and attend Tournament contests


Special Events Assistant (supervised by the Commissioner)

- Assist with recruitment and supervision of GNAC student athlete volunteers for the Brian Honan 5K

- Assist with the organization and administration of the of GNAC SAAC events

- Attend, facilitate, and organize Championships including Cross Country, Women’s Tennis, Swimming and Diving, Men’s Tennis

- Assist with any other events, such as DIII Week and Special Olympics as assigned by the commissioner

- Research and develop collaborations with other college athletic associations, conferences, corporations and non-profits

- Assist with planning and administration of the 2016 GNAC PDS (Professional Development Seminar)
