GNAC HALL OF FAME FEATURE: Aaron Dufoe, Rivier

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GNAC Hall of Fame Dinner
set for August 7 in Boston

WINTHROP, Mass. – Leading up to the 2019 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Hall of Fame Induction on Wednesday, August 7, the GNAC is featuring each of the eight inductees prior to the event at the Hilton Garden Inn Logan Airport in East Boston, Mass. For the complete spotlight schedule, please see below.

From the Rivier University men's soccer and men's basketball programs, Rivier graduate Aaron Dufoe was a two-sport standout for the Raiders in the mid- to late-90s. The Nashua, N.H. native, had an illustrious career for both the Raiders' men's soccer and men's basketball programs before receiving his undergraduate degree in business in 1996 and his MBA from Rivier in 1997.

On the field, Dufoe established numerous school, conference and individual scoring records. Back in 1995, the GNAC's inaugural season, he was the NCAA Division III national scoring leader with an impressive 25 goals and nine assists.  For his career, Dufoe totaled 70 goals and 28 assists for 98 points.

In 1997, Dufoe helped lead Rivier to its first GNAC Men's Soccer Championship, which was also the first men's team championship in Raiders' history.

In the previous season, the men's team fell in the GNAC Tournament Championship on penalty kicks. The following year marked only the fourth season of the team's existence, as the Raiders played one of the most challenging schedules in Division III. They returned to the GNAC Championship, this time to win the title, defeating Albertus Magnus College in the semifinals and Emerson College in the final under head coach Scott Thomas, who brought together a group of young men from different parts of the country and built them into a cohesive, competitive team.

On the hardwood, he was a four-year starter for the Rivier men's basketball program.  The shooting guard is one of 13 that make up the Raiders' 1,000-point club after finishing his career with 1,004 points.

He still lives in Nashua with his wife and three children and also passes down his knowledge and love of sports as a youth soccer coach.

The festivities on August 7 will begin at 6:00 PM with a cocktail reception, followed by dinner at 6:30 PM and the induction ceremony presentations running from approximately 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM at the Hilton Garden Inn. All eight inductees are expected to be in attendance.
